As a former athlete, Dr. Vidale requested a contemporary space reflecting both a medical facility and wellness spa that would optimize the physical assessment and treatment of his patients.

Medical office renovation

The project opened in October 2022 in Blagden Alley, a historic alleyway in northwest Washington and D.C.’s thriving Shaw neighborhood that includes bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. The 1,355-square-foot facility is housed in a former carriage house in the alley.

Upon entry, patients are greeted by reception. From there, a main hallway leads to a large workout room, treatment room, and staff office.

Branded design elements

An articulated ceiling plane is designed to organize circulation and draw patients inward as well as mask HVAC ductwork and integrate lighting. The result is an elevated ceiling zone that optimizes the existing skylights all while subtly imbuing the space with the Momentous’ brand signature gold color.

A wood-panel wrapped volume is used to separate reception and workout zones. The workout space, outfitted with rubber and turf flooring, occupies a former enclosed courtyard and includes three skylights to maintain a connection to the outdoors.

A gold cut-metal sign was installed to improve visibility of the facility’s alley-facing entrance.

Momentous Sports Medicine project details

Location: Washington, D.C.

Completion date: October 2022

Owner: Dr. Tim Vidale

Total building area: 1,355 sq. ft.

Total construction cost: N/A

Cost/sq. ft.: N/A

Architect: EL Studio

Interior designer: N/A

General contractor: Bristol Custom Construction

Engineer: Charles Ford and Associates

Builder: Bristol Custom Construction

The physical therapy and sports performance practice renovates a historic carriage house into a 1,355-square-foot modern medical office.

[537,544
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"NewsArticle
{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"http://healthcaredesignmagazine.com/projects/momentous-sports-medicine-washington-d-c-photo-tour/
https://healthcaredesignmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/gymmomentous-150x92.png
@type":"ImageObject
[{"@type":"Person
Tracey Walker
Tracey Walker
@type":"Organization
