To create a cozy and familiar environment, elements such as wood finishes and decorative pendant lighting were incorporated, while the color palette for the labor and delivery rooms is inspired by the natural gradient of a sunrise. “The overall color palette is used to create a calm and serene backdrop to what is a very intense and potentially overwhelming experience,” Henson says.

Seattle’s Virginia Mason Birth Center offers a patient-centered environment that keeps Level II babies with their mothers during postpartum care.

[537,544
{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"NewsArticle
{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"http://healthcaredesignmagazine.com/projects/special-delivery-virginia-mason-birth-center/
https://healthcaredesignmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/specialdelivery.jpg-150x92.png
@type":"ImageObject
[{"@type":"Person
Tracey Walker
Tracey Walker
@type":"Organization
