{"id":43544,"date":"2020-06-02T08:00:16","date_gmt":"2020-06-02T12:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/healthcaredesignmagazine.com\/?p=43544"},"modified":"2021-04-07T22:19:50","modified_gmt":"2021-04-08T02:19:50","slug":"sheltering-arms-hospital-and-vcu-health-to-open-95m-rehab-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/healthcaredesignmagazine.com\/news\/sheltering-arms-hospital-and-vcu-health-to-open-95m-rehab-hospital\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheltering Arms Hospital And VCU Health To Open $95M Rehab Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/shelteringarmsinstitute.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sheltering Arms Institute<\/a> (Richmond, Va.), an inpatient rehabilitation hospital developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shelteringarms.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sheltering Arms Hospital<\/a> (Mechanicsville, Va.) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vcuhealth.org\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VCU Health<\/a> (Richmond), is being completed in Goochland County, Va., according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/richmondbizsense.com\/2020\/05\/28\/new-95m-rehab-hospital-on-track-for-june-opening-in-goochland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> in <em>Richmond BizSense. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Patients currently at Sheltering Arms and VCU Health will be moved in stages to the new facility over a two-week period beginning in mid-June.<\/p>\n<p>Situated on 25 acres, the 200,000-square-foot, 114-bed hospital will offer care for patients recovering from strokes, spinal cord injuries, and brain injuries, as well as services for people who suffer from neurological diseases and disorders.<\/p>\n<p>The $95 million project team included architecture firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hdrinc.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HDR<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hourigan.group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hourigan<\/a> (general contractor;
